TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL STATIONERY and avoidance of edit charges

I've had a rash of printing issues and proofing issues arise over the past few weeks.  Please see the below pointers for creating a smooth and easy design order process.

  • HAVE YOUR TEST PRINTS DONE ON THE PAPER AND PRINTER YOU ARE USING FOR THE ACTUAL FINAL PRODUCT.  I cannot stress this enough!  Great, you printed your proof on your home printer, on paper.  And then your gorgeous cardstock arrived, you ordered your prints at the local print shop, and...... received a design in the wrong color.  Yes, it happens time and time again.  Every paper, every ink, and every printer will affect how your design prints.  Color changes to files are $10 EACH.
  • VIEW YOUR PROOFS ON AN ACTUAL COMPUTER.  iPhones and iPads are such great technologies, but if you can't see the file names for your proofs, there's a high chance the wrong proof will get communicated back to me.  If this happens, a new charge for the item will be incurred, as I have to re-do the design and files.
Please be on your toes and alert when ordering from a graphic designer.  There are many details and facets that tend to get lost in the shuffle, but make a big difference in your final printed stationery.
